Julie Johnston Julie Johnstone is the creator of Essence Press, and the editor of Island. Her own work with text and language has been featured in several exhibitions. She creates minimal yet resonant works exploring the visual and linguistic nuances contained in short phrases and gatherings of words. These explorations are realised in small handmade books and cards as well as in wall-hung Screenprints. The press says about her work: "Julie Johnstone's prints are like yoga in a frame. They, like her magazines and artist's books, are made with an almost unbearable lightness of touch." |
