For this print the artist has come up with his own unique solution for making collagraph. He has dried out coffee which is then applied on top of wet glue, each fine grain of coffee attaches itself to the glue which, when printed hold an enormous amount of ink. The gloss paint on other areas dries very smoothly and therefore holds very little ink, giving the artist the contrasts required for each image. Tim Winters was born in England and has lived and worked in Australia for many years. He recently won the Country Energy Art Prize for Landscape Painting and is Director of the Ironbarks Printmaking Summer School in Australia.
